The tool determines autonomous system data by its number (ASN) or by an IP address that belongs to it. The service sends a WHOIS request and retrieves information about the owner of the autonomous system - usually an internet service provider, hosting company, or large organization - along with the country of registration and the regional internet registry (RIPE, ARIN, APNIC, and others).

In addition to the basic data, the check shows the IP address range (subnet in CIDR format) served by the autonomous system. This makes it possible to see exactly which addresses belong to the provider or organization, and where a specific IP address sits on the route within the global BGP network.

An ASN check is useful for analyzing network infrastructure, finding the owner of a subnet, setting up traffic filtering by autonomous system, or investigating the origin of suspicious network activity.
