Checking IP information
Comments
The tool determines the geographic location and owner of a given IP address. The service sends a WHOIS request and retrieves data about the country, city, and organization the IP address belongs to. This is usually an internet service provider, a hosting company, or a data center.
In addition to geolocation, the check shows whether the IP address belongs to a hosting network: this is useful for distinguishing a regular user from a server, VPN, or proxy. A full raw WHOIS response is also available, with all the technical details provided by the regional internet registry (RIPE, ARIN, APNIC, and others).
Checking an IP address is useful for analyzing server logs, tracking down the source of suspicious traffic, setting up geo-restrictions, or simply finding out where a user or website is connecting from.
